A Grateful Heart
It really is no secret that I love this time of year. I love the crispness of the air, the layers of cozy clothes, the flavors of the season, and the gathering of loved ones. There is something so exciting to me about the Fall. It begins the switch of outward activities and busyness into an inward process of growing roots deeper and drawing nearer to what matters most to us.
I love the change of season because it signals something new.
During difficult seasons of life, I often find so much hope in seeing the physical seasons change. It reminds me that nothing is a permanent circumstance except for the love and redemption of God. But if those difficult seasons begin to spill over into times of year that are often categorized as cheerful, a time for thanks, merry, or bright – it can almost be salt in the wound.
Starting tomorrow, I am going to be launching a two-week long devotional leading up to Thanksgiving called The Grateful Heart. It will be a devotional dedicated to finding gratitude and praise during difficult seasons of life. Sweet sister, the challenges, and difficulties of this world do not get to dictate our contentment or steal our joy. This will be a two-week long time of reflection, drawing nearer to the unshakeable heart of God, and repositioning our hearts to praise Him.
Because He is so good, regardless of our momentary affliction. And what better way to celebrate Thanksgiving than to command mountains to move and proclaim that He is faithful and He will finish what He has started in us. I have been in constant prayer for you if this has been a challenging time of life and am so expectant that this Thanksgiving would not just be another day, but that it would be an avenue of freedom for you from this difficult season!
Each morning, a new devotional will be found here at BCT from November 9th – November 23rd. I am so excited and cannot wait to spend this time with you, dear friend! The best is yet to come!
